hi, what baby carrier do you use, if any, for a 9 month old…my son is 21lbs and 29″ in height…i have a baby bjorn but think maybe he’s too big for it now — at least that’s what the instructional booklet says. he fits fine though and likes it.
also, what do you use after an infant car seat? right now i have the graco safeseat.
thanks!!

How do you install a car seat on an aircraft seat? Question by CuriousOne car seat
I am taking a 4 hour flight with my 2 year old and was wondering whether I should bring our car seat on the plane. I have purchased a ticket for my daughter. How does my Graco seat attach to the airplace seat? Will it be the same as in the car?
Best answer:How do you install a car seat on an aircraft seat?
Answer by Robyn S I stopped taking child car seats on airplanes once they could turn around and face forward. The reason I did that is because the space between the seats is SOOO tiny that their little legs are constantly kicking the seat in front of them and even the most well behaved 2 year-old has trouble keeping still even if they’re not kicking it intentionally. I just put them in the seat belt of the airplane and they were fine. They had much more leg room, and they could put the tray down for coloring and playdoh and whatnot. If you decide to do it, then yes it just connects through the back just like if you had a lap belt only in your car.

my husband and I will be travelling in October with our 5 year old. She is currently in a booster seat iin the car and I was wondering if I should bring her booster seat with me on the plane or if she can ride with just the lap belt.

Infant Car Seat VS. Infant-Toddler Convertable Car Seat? Question by Curious In California best toddler car seat
I am debating on weather to buy an infant car seat/travel system or go with a convertable infant-toddler car seat. I was just wondering if those convertable infant seats can fit onto the new car seat carrier type strollers they make now? I haven’t read on any of the descriptions if they fit on them or not…? So the convertable car seat would just stay in the car and you’d just use a carrier for the baby VS with an infant car seat, you can just pop it out and snap it onto one of those car seat carrier/strollers? Hmm..touch choice, I guess it would just depend on how much money you’d want to spend in the long run?? So many choices! So, all you experienced moms, what has worked best for you???
Best answer:Infant Car Seat VS. Infant-Toddler Convertable Car Seat?
Answer by dueinoctwith#3 Convertable carseats don’t work in the strollers, atleast none that i have seen. But I find that I like the convertable carseat better because i get more use out of it for the money. With the infant seat my boys were getting to big before they were even 9 months old so i still had to buy the convertable carseat then turn around and buy a front facing carseat with a harness that also works as a booster seat when they were 2 1/2 years old. So i just would rather buy 2 carseats instead of 3 plus i never liked having to remove the infant seat anyways so i never attached it to the stroller or anything.

Portable car seat? Question by cmriz83 car seat stroller airplane
have a 3 yr old toddler and I am traveling via airplane and I would like to bring a car seat for him. I use to have a portable car seat but now I have no idea where it is and I found it online by luck. Now I am searching for a new one and the only one I can find is the eddie bauer portable car seat which I like but I would like to look at more options. I was wondering if anyone would know of any, what they are called, by who and what site. I want a foldable car seat not a full size. I am already bringing one full size for the younger child, a playpen, a suitcase, a stroller, etc. So just foldable Thanks
Answer by littleangelfire81 I wanted to answer, even though you likely won’t like my answer.
Those are not safe to use. Yes, it is a massive pain in the rear to take a full size car seat for your child – but absolutely worth it when you think of it like this: would you rather have a convenient to fold portable car seat and a dead child or full size inconvenient seat and a live one? That’s honestly what it comes down to. They market these as the perfect solution to traveling with a child, but like many things, just b/c its sold doesn’t mean its safe.
This is a last resort restraint – only to be used if there is absolutely nothing else available. Marginally safer than a child using just a lap belt which is unsafe. Those tote ‘n go seats, all made by Cosco/Dorel/Safety1st/Eddie Bauer, they’re all the same just different patterns, are incredibly difficult to use correctly. If you thought it was easy – it probably wasn’t in right. Offers NO side impact protection, and the child’s body is still thrown forward in an accident in many installations. Here’s the experts (car seat techs) opinions:

the Sunshine Kids Radian65 is a foldable seat, but its still heavy. You can use it on the plane, but can be difficult to install in some vehicles, so something to keep in mind. It is a great seat though.
There are much better options. Are you taking a double stroller? If so, you can likely fit whatever car seat the 3 year old already has in one of the seats. He may not be able to sit in it, but it would give you somewhere to put it while walking through the airport. Or, if the stroller is a single stroller, buy a cheap luggage cart. You can strap his car seat on it, and he can ride on it through the airport and then you can use his seat on the plane. Children should always use their car seat on the plane, from birth.
You aren’t required to, but its a really good idea to take one. Kids do better when they have their seat on the plane, same as in the car. They are less likely to want to run around and such since they are used to being put in a car seat whenever traveling. And believe it are not, they are safer. Should turbulence happen, they are less likely to be injured or scared.
Another thing to consider: will you be doing any traveling by car once you get to your destination? Then you will need the car seat anyway, or you will have to purchase one when you get there. Do not rely on a car seat from a rental company! Its dangerous. Car seats expire 6 years after the date of manufacture, and are not safe if not taken care of properly. It must never have been in a wreck, never dropped, include all the original pieces and manual, and be installed correctly, something the rental staff will not help you with. On that note, remember too, that it is better NOT to check car seats as luggage. Think of how your luggage gets banged around – well, if your car seat gets banged around, it is no longer safe to use. A car seat is only made to withstand being dropped/in an accident once! And if it gets dropped and you don’t know about it, you unwittingly put your child in danger. Better all around to take the seat on the plane.
And the airline is very unlikely to replace the seat if they do damage it. Just check to make sure that your car seat is FAA approved for aircraft use, should say so somewhere on a label on the seat.
Also – if you are planning on having your baby as a lap baby, you should know the truth of what can really happen, check the links below. Flight attendants refer to lap babies as MISSILES!!!! That’s right, b/c missiles is what they become when there is heavy turbulence or other problems or rough flights. They give the count as “127 pax (passengers) and 3 missiles”. Is a missile what you want your baby to be?

We have a tiny car and I was afraid we would have to upgrade our vehicle before the birth of our third child. I measured the backseat of my car and got 49.5 inches, divided by 3 to get 16.5 inches, and then consulted the internet to find out if carseats come that narrow. I found a couple that did, and was very excited until I saw the prices on them. I did some more research, found carseat forums where moms discussed what carseats fit in the backseats of their narrow cars, and several were recommending the Chicco Keyfit, but again, I didn't like the price.
So I took my trusty tape measure to my local Target and found this Baby Trend seat right next to that Chicco Keyfit. I measured them and found that this one is actually narrower (only by half and inch, but that matters in a tiny backseat)! I took the seat down from the shelf and measured the base, too, and it was also very narrow. I fiddled with the adjustable back and am VERY excited to not have to rethread the straps as my baby grows. I played with the LATCH straps to see if I'd like them. I put the carseat in and out of the base a few times. I rocked the carseat on the floor, played with the sunshade, tested the front button for adjusting the straps, tested the fasteners.
Pros:
1. It's 16.5 inches across!
2. ADJUSTABLE BACK!! No more strap rethreading as my baby grows!
3. The strap length is easily adjustable from the front of the carseat. You can adjust the straps as you're putting your baby in, or after baby's already in, without having to turn the seat all around and do it from the back.
4. As long as you get the right model, it is rear-facing up to THIRTY POUNDS. My 2 1/2 year old daughter just hit thirty pounds, and to think of her still in an infant seat is laughable, but I do remember how sad I was when my first child outgrew his infant seat and we HAD to switch him to the convertible. Life did get more difficult b/c I could no longer just carry in his seat when he fell asleep in the car; I had to unbuckle him and pick him up, and he usually woke up and I had a hard time getting him back to sleep or dealing with him being grumpy for the rest of the day. I would much rather be able to switch to a convertible seat by choice instead of by necessity.
I did find that there were a couple of small things I didn't like:
1. The button to release the carseat from the base is in the front of the seat, not the back like I'm used to. When the carseat is installed in a car, it's a little difficult to get to that button. Whoever designed that must have never actually used a carseat...
2. The straps only fasten into the buckle when they're put together just right. Unlike most carseats, you can't fasten one side and then the other. Again, whoever designed this must have never been a parent! We've had a carseat like this before and I SWORE I would NEVER buy another one, b/c if my son didn't want to go into the carseat, it was darn near impossible to get him buckled. The only reason I did go ahead and buy this was because as a more experienced mom, I think I'll be able to handle the screaming-infant-doesn't-want-to-get-in-her-carseat better this time. Also, I think that if I just loosen the straps a lot, it'll be easier to get the infant buckled, then tighten them to a safe point, and this should be pretty simple with the easy adjustability of this seat.
3. The cover is not machine-washable. Again, designers didn't have children! It is at least removable; having to hand-wash a cover isn't really THAT big a deal when I'm already used to cloth diapers. (I machine-wash my kids' diapers, but I do have to scrape the poo out of them after they start solids.)
I hate it when people leave reviews for products they haven't actually used yet, but this is one I think I can safely review. I've used three different infant carseats between my first two babies so I feel like I know what I'm doing this time :D I also really wanted to let everyone know that there is a less expensive alternative to the Chicco Keyfit for narrow backseats!

I never write reviews for products, but I HATE this seat with such a passion, I have to do it.
There are two things I like about this seat. One: it's cute. Two: it snaps in and out of the base very easily. That's it. Two things that I'm sure I can find on another car seat.
It is so DIFFICULT to get my daughter in and out of this seat. I bought it because it says it goes up to 30 lbs. What a laugh! My daughter will turn three months in two days (granted she's big for her age) and she has already outgrown this seat. She can barely move when she's in there and every time I pull her out she is just drenched in sweat. I have the straps as loose as they will go and they still pinch her legs. The snaps are also really difficult to do. I feel like I'm hurting her when I put her in this seat! I have purposely not left the house until my husband is home to watch her simply because I did not want to deal with the chore of strapping her into this seat.
Struggling to put her in this today, my husband remarked that whomever made this seat should be beaten. Today is the last day we will ever use this seat.
UPDATE: I gave this seat to a friend to use until her son is old enough to use the toddler seat she has. Her son was much smaller when born than my daughter (he was less than 6lbs, mine was 9 lbs) and it's working well for him. He's now 3 months old, the age my daughter was when I gave up on this seat. Either way, just keep in mind this seat is SMALL! I still wouldn't recommend it as it doesn't give a lot of growing room.

I am surprised to see so many negative reviews on this car seat. However, we never got the stroller to go along with it and that seems to be where most of the issues are coming from. We haven't had too many complaints about this car seat and have been using it for 6 months. My only complaint is that it isn't the lightest of seats to carry and the puzzle lock isn't fun when baby is feeling uncooperative. But, it isn't that difficult to maneuver around and we managed just fine. If you're seeking for a car seat with a lot of expectations and easy features, this may not be the seat for you, but you may be happily surprised. Also, the Chickadee print is really cute! We have gotten many compliments on it. Our daughter actually enjoys just playing in her car seat in the car and when we arrive at our destination so it must be comfortable.
